3Yahuchanan
The elder to Gaios the gift-cared-one, whom I care-for-the-gift-of in firmness.
Gift-Cared-One, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be healthy, even as your breathing-throat prospers. For I rejoiced greatly, when male-strong-protectors came and testified about your steadiness, even as you walk in that which is firm. I have no greater joy than this, to hear about my tent-builders walking in that which is firm.
Gift-Cared-One, you do a supportive work in whatever you accomplish for those who are male-strong-protectors and strangers. They have testified about your gift-care before the called-out-assembly. You will do well to send them forward on their journey in a way worthy of the Strong-Yoked-Guide, because for the sake of the Name they went out, taking nothing from the non-Yehudiy. We therefore ought to receive such, that we may be fellow workers for that which is firm.
I wrote to the called-out-assembly, but Diotrephes, who is fond of being first among them, doesn’t accept what we say. Therefore, if I come, I will call attention to his deeds which he does, unjustly accusing us with wicked words. Not content with this, neither does he himself receive the male-strong-protectors, and those who would, he forbids and throws out of the called-out-assembly. Gift-Cared-One, don’t imitate that which is dysfunctional, but that which is functional. He who does what is functional is of the Strong-Yoked-Guide. He who does what is dysfunctional hasn’t seen the Strong-Yoked-Guide. Demetrios has the testimony of all, and of that which is firm itself; yes, we also testify, and you know that our testimony is firm.
I had many things to write to you, but I am unwilling to write to you with ink and pen; but I hope to see you soon, and we will speak face to face. Completeness be to you. The friends greet you. Greet the friends by name.
